Meadow Parsnip

6-8" tall stems with trifoliate, lightly serrated leaves grow from a large fleshy root.  A branching, hollow flower stalk topped with multiple tiny flowers emerges in late spring or early summer. The flowers are about 1/4" across, with yellow petals encased in red to purple bracts that are borne in compound umbrels. Winged seed capsules follow the flowers.
