Maryland Golden Aster

Low-growing perennial with a basal rosette of oblong leaves that are covered in fine hairs when they are young that puts up a 1-2' flowering stalk in summer.  The hairy leaves lend it another common name, 'Silkgrass.' The flowering stalk is topped with multiple small yellow daisy-like blooms in late summer and fall.  Will readily self-seed, and tolerates hot, dry conditions once established.
