We have been working hard getting our parent plant beds ready for this spring. This is what our sun-drenched plant beds looked like three weeks ago. Annual weeds like spurge, henbit, rabbit ears, and viney vetch, you get the picture. My own yard is one thing, but this is about a quarter of an acre. But thanks to some sunny weather and some stalwart helpers, the beds are getting in shape. Adding granite sand and compost to gradually raise the bed and improve drainage. Below, Jeff is inspecting the mostly finished beds. We have added species and additional plants. Can’t wait to see it in a month.
Please join us for our “grand opening” on Sunday, April 19th. From May through October, Beech Hollow will be open on the first Saturday of every month. We will have guided tours of what is blooming in our parent stock beds, you will be able to see many of the plants in their mature, blooming size.
Hope to see you there!
